Rowupdating not fired

event is raised when a row's Update button is clicked, but after the Grid View control updates the row. This enables you to provide an event-handling method that performs a custom routine, such as checking the results of the update operation, whenever this event occurs.I had a similar problem: I have a grid that gets bound to a (collection) property of an item in a detailsview. The edit link would put the gridview in edit mode, cancel would work but the Row Updating event just did not fire. The first thing I tried was setting Enable View State to true on the grid (I'd switched it off previously). When the row is in edit mode i display a checkbox and textbox. I ran the app and lo and behold, my Row Updating event handler fired! To String())); When the user clicks the row, i bind some data to a checkbox list, showing a uers a list of options they have chosen. Problem is when i click on the textbox or the checkbox, it causes the row click event to fire. Update other controls after a Postback has fired from another control - eg insert data Hi This is a slight modification to the personalweb template which shipped with VS2005 I have a web form - linked to a master with two content placeholders left and right: #1 In the left i have a formview containing a textbox button - and a datasrouce object with an insertmethod - this calls a method to insert the textbox data into table albums: #2 In the right i have a gridview which has a datasource this has a selectmethod which calls a select method from table albums. So, you can use the Row Updated event to access this value.

NET 2.0 app that is running under sharepoint 2000 (yes the old sharepoint) in IIS. Hi James, This might happen if the error was raised during a data update. Please post your code here, and we will try to figure out the cause of this behavior. Thanks, Plato Hello James: We are glad to hear that the issue is solved. I just noticed that this event fires when the row values are actually valid but if I enter invalid values the event doesn't fire. I just want to update the error messages so the user knows which fields have incorrect values.Hi Stephen, Yes, you should be able to use the ASPx Grid View. For reference, see the code snippet posted in the corresponding documentation article.

Do not use this parameter to identify the current row. The Row Updated event occurs after the Validate Row event, which is fired before the modified row is saved to the data source.
